“My name is Tammam. Since my childhood in Syria, I have been a captive of history. While other children played with new toys, I was mesmerized by my grandfather’s dusty leather wallet. I used to imagine that wallet whispering the stories he had forgotten to tell. When he passed away and bequeathed it to me, I didn’t just hold leather; I held his life. That wallet—with its tangled strings and the smell of history—was the seed of PAX.”

“But history is not always kind. My path led me through the darkness of arbitrary detention and the long journey of asylum. In those moments, two symbols kept me afloat: my grandfather’s wallet and my first Paper Boat. The boat, which I first folded as a child, became my symbol of freedom. I realized that while the world can take your home, it cannot take what you create with your own hands. This resilience is the soul of every piece I craft today.”
“I searched for a ‘wallet for life’ to leave for my own grandchildren, but I found only soulless, mass-produced items. So, in 2018, I decided to become the craftsman I was looking for. From the historic workshops of Constantinople to my current studio in France, I mastered the art of hand-stitching. I chose a path of conscience: Zero child labor and 100% plastic-free materials. I created PAX to be a bridge between the glory of the past and the ethics of the future.”
